Methods: Totally 42 patients with 96 PPVs and 36 patients with 70 NPPVs with two years follow-up,the clinical effects of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Results: The preoperative tension was significantly higher than that of the patients without the preparation of porcelain veneer, and the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the retention rate, gingival bleeding index, color matching, porcelain surface texture, edge dyeing and gingival response( P 0. 05). The edge density of the preparatory group was better than that of the unprepared group, and the sensitivity rate of the unprepared group was significantly lower than that of the preparatory group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Both preparation and non-preparation porcelain veneers are effective in clinical application, the patients of no-preparation group received higher degree of acceptability. The cervical margin of the preparatory group was better, and the marginal micro leakage was avoided.
