Objective: To investigate the relationship between survivin and p27 in the process for gene protein expression to invasion and node metastasis in cervical carcinoma. Methods:The expression of survivin and p27 was examined by immunohisto-chemical S-P method and colour pathological image computer analysis system in 10 cases of normal cervical epithelia, 10 cases of cervical carcinoma in situ, 40 cases of invasive squamous cell carcinoma of cervix and 11 cases of invasive andeocarcinoma of cervix, The relationship between the two indexes and the factors related with clinical pathology of cervical carcinoma was analyzed statistically. Results: It was found that the positive level of survivin expression followed this order: normal cervical epithelium→cervical carcinoma in situ→invasive carcinoma of cervix;while the expression of p27 were in reserve order (P0. 05). There was significant correlation between the expression of survivin to pelvic lymphonode metastasis, intravascular involvement, stroma involvement and histopathological types and ages of patients (P0.05), but no correlation between them to FIGO staging and histropathological grading (P0.05). There was significant correlation between the expression of p27 to pelvic lymphonode metastasis, intravascular involvement, stroma involvement and histropathological grading (P0. 05), but no correlation between them to FIGO staging, histopathological types and ages of patients (P0.05). The positive expression of survivin in patients with pelvic lymph node metastasis, intravascular involvement, or stroma involvement were significantly higher than those in the cases without them, but the positive expression of p27 had the contrary result with survivin positive expression. Conclusion:The positive expression of survivin and p27 in invasive carcinoma of cervix might play an important role during the development, lymph node metastasis, intravascular and stroma involvement of cancer cells, and they had affinity with clinical behavior of cervical carcinoma. Detecting the expressive levels of suvivin and p27 have certain referent values for judging the malignant degree, potentials of invasion and node metastasis in cervical carcinoma, evaluating prognosis of patients and selecting the rational theraputic protocol after surgery.
