HAN Liying WU Pengqiang ZHANG Xiaorong,et al Department of Hematology Luzhou Medical College Luzhou 646000
Objective:To observe the clinical effects of leukapheresis plus chemotherapy on hyperleur.ocytic acute leukemia (HLAL). Methods:Fourty patients with hyperleukocytic acute leukemia (HLAL) underwent leukapheresis plus chemotherapy. Fourty HLAL patients were randomly chosen to receive chemotherapy alone Effects of the treatments on the two groups were evaluated. Results:After leukapheresis, the WBC count of all patients decreased mificantly (P0. 001). The symptoms or signs referable to blood hyperriscosity were improved in all patients. Complete remission (CR) rate on the group that received leukapheresis plus chemotherapy (30%) was significantly higher than that of the group received chemotherapy alone (12. 5%), with an improved condition and a lower risk of early mortality. Conclusion: Leukapheresis can reduce WBC count rapidly and improve symptoms or signs of blood hyperriscosity in hyperleukocytic acute leukemia. Leukapheresis plus chemotherapy can increase the CR rate and reduce a risk of early mortality.
