Methods: 330 cases of vocal cord polyps and nodules, were randomized into three groups, then treated with fibrolaryngoscope, microlaryngoscope and indirectlaryngoscope, respectively. The clinical effects of the three kinds of surgeries were observed and analyzed to find the most suitable surgical method. Results: The effective rates of in fibro- (Ⅰ), micro- (Ⅱ) and indirect- (Ⅲ) laryngoscope groups were 96. 45%, 97. 26% and 87. 18%. There was no significant difference between Ⅰ and Ⅱ. However, there was significant difference between Ⅰ and Ⅲ. There were definite advantages and suitability in each of the three kinds of surgeries. Conclusion: The operation with fibrolaryngoscope is the first choice in the treatment of local vocal cord polyps and nodules. The vocal cord polyps with wide base should be treated with microlaryngoscope. The operation with indirectlaryngoscope should not be given up because it is simple and less expensive and it has its own suitability.
