AIM: To study the effects of captopril, rifedipine and metoprolol or the left ventricular diastolic function. METHODS:Ninety patients with impaired left ventricular diastolic function were randomized into three groups, and were prescribed captopril, nifedipine and metoprolol respectively. Left ventricular diastolic function were measrued by colour Dop-pler before and 4 weeks after the treatment. RESULTS:We found that, after the treatment, the diastolic function of the patients in captopril group and nifedipine group had been improved significantly,in the contrast, the diastolic function of the patients in metoprolol group had not been improved apparently. CONCLUSION: We conclude that ,captopril and nifedipine can be used in the treatment of impaired left ventricular diastolic function.
