Effect of amino acid infusion on perioperative glycometabolism and body temperature in patients undergoing gastrointestinal tract operation under general anesthesia

AIM To investigate the effects of amino acid infusion on perioperative glycometabolism and body temperature in patients undergoing gastrointestinal tract operation under general anesthesia.METHODS Forty-eight ASAⅠorⅡpatients undergoing elective gastrointestinal tract operation under general anesthesia were randomly divided into 2 groups(n=24 each): groupⅠreceived intravenous infusion of mixed amino acids 2 mL·kg-1·h-1 from induction of anesthesia to the end of operation(group AA);groupⅡreceived infusion of equal volume of lactated Ringer's solution(group LR).Nasopharyngeal temperature was monitored and blood sugar,insulin,HOMA-IRI,C-peptide and glycagon were detected at 30 min before anaesthesia(T0),after induction and before operation(T1),30 min after operation(T2),2 h after operation(T3) and 2 h after operation end(T4).RESUITS Nasopharyngeal temperature was significantly decreased after induction as compared to T0 in 2 groups.However the temperature in group AA was significantly higher than in group LR at T3 and T4(P0.01);blood sugar was significantly increased from T2 to T3 in 2 groups,and this change was more earlier in group AA,but blood sugar had no difference between 2 groups(P0.05);insulin was significantly increased from 30 min to 2 h after operation in group AA,which had significantly difference as compared with group LR(P0.05).The change of HOMA-IRI and C-peptide was as same as insulin.Glycagon had no difference between 2 groups.CONCLUSION Intravenous infusion of mixed amino acids during operation could increase blood sugar but not influence the level of final blood sugar;and perioperative temperature drop is diminished,which concerned with higher metabolic rate.
