Example research on chain explosion of chemical plant installations

In chemical industry chain explosions which are composed of two or three type of explosions have always occured in progression. It become more difficult to prevent and evaluate the explosion accident. How to apply reasonably single research findings on explosion to practice is the key. Illustration of chain explosions for urea synthesis tower was analysed. Mechanism of chain explosion from gas phase explosion to boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion(BLEVE) to vapor cloud fireball was revealed. Through applying correlative calculation models to calculate the explosive process, maximal superpose position of explosion wave, maximal explosion pressure of gas phase, evaporated volume, total energy of flashing, projection energy, TNT equivalent, safe distance by shock wave, maximum diameter of fireball, duration time and radiant flux were obtained.
