Discussion on the Spatial Layout of Remains in Bronze Foundries

This article first summarizes discoveries of bronze foundries in the pre-Qin periods in order to investigate the cha ne opératoire of bronze production and the spatial layout of each procedure. For this purpose, the article clarifies a wide range of technical issues including the identification of remains and temporal-spatial relationship of dif-ferent types of debris. Building on this foundation, this article tries to reconstruct the sequence of different types of features or remains and their logical relationship in cha ne opératoire. The author argues that the discussion in this regard can lay down the foundation for the reconstruction study of spatial division and corresponding organization of ancient bronze foundries.
