Breeding of a New Hot Pepper Variety——Xiangjiao 64

Yu Ximao Kuang Bifeng Xiao Changhua Deng Xianchao Xiang Zhuoying Ouyang Feng (Hengyang Vegetable Research Institute, Hengyang 421001 )  
Xiangjiao 64 is an earliest-mature variety with local characteristics developed by many-year purification and selection of a conventional variety Fudijian. It grows green young fruit into bright red old matured fruit with mid-hot taste and of fine quality, long horn-shaped, 13~15 cm in length, 2.2 cm in diameter, and 15.5g per fruit with smooth surface. It yields about 26.7 t fresh fruit per hm2. It is resistant to anthracnose, phytophthora blight and virus disease, and suitable for protected cultivation in early spring in the Yangtze River valley.
