Effect of nano copper-zinc preservative combined with phenolic resin on properties of rubber wood

Wood is susceptible to fungal erosion,resulting in the degradation of performance. In order to investigate the effect of nano copper-zinc preservative combined with phenolic resin treatment on the properties of rubber wood,a non-toxic and effective new-type of wood nano-composite preservative(MCZ) was prepared by the method of wetball milling with basic copper carbonate and basic zinc carbonate as rawmaterials. The morphology and particle size of the preservative were analyzed by the transmission electron microscopy(TEM). At the same time,the change of the particle size within seven days of the preservative was discussed. The MCZ and phenolic resin were used to impregnate the rubber wood. The anti-loss,corrosion resistance and dimensional stability of the rubber wood samples before and after the treatment were compared. The microstructures of the rubber wood were analyzed by the scanning electron microscope(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The results showed that the prepared preservative had a particle size of lower than 100 nm and had good stability because the particle size variation within seven days was lower than 30 nm. Compared with the rubber wood samples impregnated with the MCZ,the fixation ratio of the preservative of the rubber wood samples treated with the MCZ combined with phenolic resin increased by 5.24%,and the mass loss and swelling rate of the rubber wood decreased by 0.45% and 11.66%,respectively. Compared with the untreated rubber wood,the hyphae in rubber wood treated with the preservative was reduced,indicating that the preservative could effectively restrain the growth of the hyphae inside the rubber wood. Moreover,the rubber wood treated with phenolic resin combined with preservative could still maintain the inhibiting effect of preservative on white rot fungus. Therefore,the MCZ combined with phenolic resin treatment method can not only effectively improve the anti-loss property of preservative,but also improve the corrosion resistance and dimensional stability of rubber wood.
