Choice and use of mist eliminators of drying and absorption towers in sulphuric acid systems

The metal mesh demisters of drying and absorption towers in Guixi Smelters sulphuric acid systems were replaced by Monsanto Enviro-Chem s mist eliminators according to the different operation conditions. ES fibre bed mist eliminator was selected for the primary absorption tower, CS-ⅡP bi-component cylindrical mist eliminator including a metal mesh layer on the outside of the element for the final absorption tower and a new type of co-knit mesh pad for the drying tower. An inner auto-scrubbing device by acid was installed in the drying tower, as well. The replacement not only solved the problem of poor mist separation, but simplified process and increased the stream factor.
