Root cause analysis of the malfunction and improvement of the electrostatic precipitator applied in an 800 kt/a pyrite-based sulphuric acid process

The working principle of the electrostatic precipitator and the factors influencing its dust removal efficiency are expounded.Root cause analysis has been conducted to explore the reasons of low dust removal efficiency of the electrostatic precipitator in practice in combination with its actual operation for the pyrite-based acid production.Solutions are proposed to solve the problems from two sides,the equipment itself and process control.After the implementation of the improvement measures,the dust removal efficiency of the electrostatic precipitator increased from 90. 48% to 99. 23%,providing a reference for the industry to solve such problems.
