STUDIES ON THE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATON AND SEMEN FREEZ TECHNIQUE IN BACTRIAN CAMELS

Artifioial insemination was used to matc bactrian camels, whi-ch were semencollected and inseminated by the pseudovagina and insenina-ting syringe of cattle. Its all technical processes were the same as the one in horse or cattle. Fresh semen was diluted with solution of 12% sucrose or 7% glucose. and then inseminated to female camel using vagina-insemina-tion technique. The volume of semen used for each time was more than 0.5 mi involving the sperms, that were not less than 0.08-0.1 billion. The co-nception rate and the confined rate were 80% and 75% (39/52) respectively. The semen diluted with sucrose-glycerin extender was dispenscd into ampo-,ules? The ampoules on the cupric web were put above the liqid nitrogen and the semen were slowlv treezed with using of fnminating in the floatting li-qid nitrogen. So 665 ampoules of frozen semen in 65 trials and more than 1200 pellets of frozen semne had been made,in which the average activities of the sperms were 0.4(some as high as 0.5)and its range were 0.3-0.5. The semens were preserved under room temperature (14-15)after thawing. which average life of sperms was 86 hrs, and some lived for 190 hes. The application of A.I. for the bactrian camels was practised during 1983 to 1986, resulting in 70 of 92 inseminated female camels conception (concepti-on rate 76.1%) and 57 youngs born (confined rate 61.96%). The female camels without oestrous behaviour be stimulated by injecting FSH+CH in the mixture were best, resulting in oestrus rate 90%. And ovulation of oestrous femals camels indused with LRH-Awas available, resulting in ovulation rate 94.4%.
