PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS ON CULTIVARS OF RICE (JAPONICA) IN NINGXIA

Four principal components to be made cultivar of rice are proposed after studing 17 main cultivars of rice with the method of principal component analys'is in Ningxia. They are morphological compon-ent (weigpht of piant multily density per panicle) , grain yield compoment (fertilized grains per panicle multiply number of panicles) andhigh-low component (height of plant) . These components not only make greater contribution to variety, but also have greater variable coefficient. Therefore the direction of rice breeding in Ningxia is toraise the weight of plant on the based, to maintain 85-90cm height of plant and 600-675 panicles/M (6.0-6.75 raillion panicles/ha), to increase number of grains per panicle by means of improving the density of grain per panicle and ear shape, so that increasing the yield.
