Review on Health Effect of Spirulina as Function Food

Xu Huijuan, Xu Guihua (School of Agriculture, Ningxia University, Yinchuan 750021, China)  
Spirulina, a kind of functional food, contains a lot of bioactive components, 50%~70% protein, 6%~9% fat, 7% minerals in dry matter, showing important health value and beneficial effects. In this article, it is discussed that roles of the main ingredients in Spirulina play in resistance against aging, prevention from cancer and anemia, reduction of blood fat and enhance of immunity.
