STUDIES ON THE STRIP PATTETN OPTIMIZATION OF RELY INTERCTOPPING OF WHEAT AND MAIZE IN THE IRRIGATED AREA OF NINGXIA

The fied experiment of relay intercropping of wheat and maize in the differentstrip pattern was conducted. Results are as follows:the total yield of crops was highly corre lated with the yield of maize(r=0. 94* * ), and the yield of maize was correlated with the arearate of maize in the relay intercropping(r=0. 73* * ). According to the above relationship theregression equation was estsblyshed.Yz= 399. 50+0. 85X Yy=- 6. 49+1559. 54XIf the total yield of crops reaches 1, 000 kg/mu, the yield of maize should be over 706. 47kg/mu, and the area rate of maize over 45. 72%. On the analysis of the yield and the growth ofcrops in different patterns, optimal patterns are. pattern C(2. 10m, 1. 20-0. 90m), patternG(1. 20m, 0. 70-0. 5m)and pattern E(1. 80m, 1. 20-0. 60m).
