On the Confucian Self-Improvement and the Socialist Core Values
As a classical Confucian cultural concept, self-improvement has a unique ethical and spiritual meaning and contemporary relevance. The connotation of self-improvement is: ancient self-improvement focused on individual self-improvement training; modern self-improvement focuses on the nation's and country's self-improvement; contemporary self-improvement means unremitting efforts to realize Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and the Chinese Dream, which is the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Self-improvement in the Confucian ethical thought reflects the vigorous morality, benevolent virtue, independent personality and the spirits of tolerance, harmony, initiative and enterprise.Carrying forward the Confucian spirit of self-improvement has important practical significance in the development and fulfillment of the Socialist Core Values: we should lead people to strengthen their own morals, which can lay a solid foundation for cultivating and fulfilling the virtue of Socialist Core Values. We should also constantly enhance the spiritual power of virtue to provide a strong spiritual impetus of the realization of the Chinese dream.
