A study on the relationship of the level of IGF - I between heart tissue and blood plasm Cao Heng Rui Shibao

In this study the level of insulin - like growth factor I (IGF - I) in hearttissue and plasm of spontaneously hypertensive rats ( SHR ) and Wistar - Kyoto rats ( WKY ) was measured with radioimmunoassay. The heart hypertrophy was determinded by the heart weight (HW) and heart weight/body weight (HW/BW) . It was showed that HW was higher (P0. 05) in SHR than in WKY, and the HW/ BW was much higher (P0. 01) in SHR than in WKY. There were a positive correlation between the level of IGF - I in heart and in plasm (WKY: r= 0. 84S5P0. 05, SHR. r= 0. 9529P0. 005) . The above results suggest that the level of IGF - I in blood is affected by the IGF- I produced in heart regardless of whether the heart is physiologic or pathologic. There is a positive correclation between them.
