Translator's Subjectivity and “Four Beauties” Representation of Jiao Nv Shi's English Translation

LI Yu-long;ZHAN Jian-ying;East China University of Technology;
Ancient tea poems is the difficult point of ancient tea classics' English translation. Translation is inseparable from aesthetics, so is English translation of ancient tea poems. With viewpoints on translation aesthetics, it takes Jiao Nv Shi as an example analyzing the "four beauties"of the source poem, and discussing subjectivity of the translator for their reproduction. It arrives at the conclusions that when dealing with the translation, the translator should trace back to the beauty of the source poem and reproduce it as the aim so that he can deal with the relationship of translator's subjective initiative and passivity well, and thus realize his egoism. It is hoped that this paper can contribute some ideas to the translation of tea classics' difficulties.
