A Corpus-based Comparative Study on Leave~5

By using COCA and BNC,this paper analyzes the collocation of leave5 and finds out that leave5 has an obvious negative semantic prosody. Then,it makes a comparative study on the collocation and semantic prosody of leave5 both in COCA and CLEC,which proves that Chinese learners underuse the negative semantic prosody of leave5. Finally,three causations of this phenomenon have been explored and suggestions on English teaching and lexicography have been put forward.
