A Novel Fast Startup Zero-Temperature-Coefficient Current Reference

A novel scheme for zero-temperature-coefficient current reference circuit was presented based on negative temperature-coefficient of base-emitter(BE) junction voltage.The circuit features a simple structure without band gap reference(BGR),fast startup,low power consumption,and insensitivity to power supply.Hspice simulation based on 0.5 μm standard CMOS process indicated a max-to-min fluctuation of 0.019 μA with voltage ranging from 1.8 V to 5.5 V at 25 ℃ and 0.09 μA with temperature ranging from-40 ℃ to 125 ℃ at 1.8 V.The new scheme is applicable for low power and fast startup mixed-signal systems with battery-free reference.
