A New Quadrature LMV Cell for Low Power GNSS Receivers

An improved quadrature LMV cell for GNSS receiver was designed.The functions of LNA,mixer and VCO were reused in the LMV where the bias in different blocks was shared.The power was greatly reduced under the premise of that the performance of the GNSS receiver met the indicators.The improved double balanced VCO load structure was adopted to avoid the leak of LO signal,which had increased the stability of the circuit.The circuit was implemented with the 0.18μm CMOS technology and simulated using Cadence Spectre under a 1.3 V supply voltage.When the input signal was in GPS L1 band of 1.575 GHz and the IF(intermediate frequency)was4 MHz,the measured noise figure was 3.0dB,the conversion gain was 34 dB,the third-order intercept point was-20 dBm.The phase noise of the local oscillator was-110dBc/Hz@1MHz offset while the power was only 2.2mW.
