Design of extrusion die for equal channel angular pressing

The principle of equal channel angular pressing process was described.Then the extrusion pressure was calculated.An extrusion die was designed,including the punch and related components.The use of the die successfully produced superfine grain columnar material with average grain size as 1.5μm.The experimental analysis shows that many mechanical property indexes of the superfine grain pure copper obtained are improved.The tensile strength,for example,is increased from 235MPa to 420MPa;the hardness from 114HV to 184.3HV;and the elongation percentage is decreased from 45% to 19%.
