Secularization and Value Return of High-level Research Universities

SUN Xiao-wen(Higher Education Institute,Wuhan University of Technology,Hubei 430070,China)  
High-level research university is a compound concept by unifying American classification of research universities and understanding of high-level universities and research universities in China.Because of unclear understanding of the core value of high-level research universities,there are noticeable tendency of secularization in face of lure of industrialization and merchandization in China.So the concept should be clarified that the high-level research universities must stick to the ideals of the university,and realize the essence of the university,which will distinguish them from common universities.The core of it is to cultivate awareness of freedom,responsibility,and academics that surpass secularization.
