Difficulties and Solutions of Applying Flipped Classroom in the Course "Introduction to the Earth"

Flipped classroom model has been given a special attention in recent years. Flipped classroom is a type of blended learning which integrates the current information technology into curriculum. It has also been widely advocated in universities as a new instructional strategy. In this paper,difficulties related to the flipped classroom practice of " Introduction to the Earth" have been discussed: such as shortage of online course resources,poor self-learning ability of students,micro-videos with low quality and lack of spare time for students. Some strategies have been proposed to better take advantage of flipped classroom based on the difficulties mentioned above: adopting this model properly,making a good controlling of class size,enhancing the training of teachers with information technologies,improving the quality of videos,strengthening the contact and coordination between universities and constructing sharing platforms.
