Syngas production from chinese herb residue steam gasification

The steam gasification of Chinese Herb Residue for syngas production was experimentally investigated on a downdraft fixed bed. A series experiments have been performed to investigate the effect of gasification temperature,steam to biomass ratio(S/B)on syngas flow rate,syngas yield,gas composition,carbon conversion rate,syngas low heating value and gasification efficiency. The results show that the increasing of reactor temperature can promote the process of gasification reaction which favor the syngas quality and gasification efficiency. Furthermore,the moderate steam could improve the gasification efficiency,but excess steam is not favorable to the gasification. Meanwhile,the gasification efficiency72.91% could be obtained at optimal condition,which the S/B ratio is 1.0 at 800 ℃. The results show that Chinese Herb Residue can be used in steam gasification as fuel as other biomass. Moreover,these results can provide theoretical basis and method guidelines for Chinese Herb Residue resource utilization.
