Synthesis of Chalcone and Azachalcone Through Mechanical Vibration

Chalcone and azachalcone are widely applied in the field of pharmaceutical intermediate and organic synthesis.Therefore,it is of great importance to develop a novel,highly efficient and environment-friendly method for the synthesis of these compounds.Through a mechanical vibration method under solid phase condition,a series of chalcones and azachalcones are synthesized from various benzaldehydes with acetophenone and 2-acetyl pyridine,in which NaOH is used as the catalyst and a vibration frequency of 30 Hz is employed during 40-80 min.All the products are characterized by melting point,IR and HNMR analysis.The results indicate that this mechanical vibration process exhibits very high selectivity and yield.Compared with conventional reaction conditions in solution,the present method is highly efficient,green and economical.
