A Meso-scale Analysis on a Severe Sandstorm

The circulation and meso-scale synoptic analysis was conducted on a severe sandstorm event on April 8,2001.The topographic effect on the cold front and the features of sandstorm movement are discussed.Using MM5 products,non-geostropic Q vector,frontogenesis and total temperature were calculated and analyzed,and results show that all the indices above had notable relation with the observations during this sandstorm event.
