American naturalist writer Theodore Dreiser describes the theme of desire in his novels,in which he fully demonstrates the great power of desire and human's vulnerability in face of desire. As an alienation phenomenon, desire has become the strongest opposition force for people and made them become inhuman. Many of Dreiser's novels show his deep insight into the forces of alienation and hence reveal the weaknesses of human nature profoundly from the perspective of philosophy.
