THE DIAGNOSTIC VALUE OF LYSOZYME ACTIVITY OF PLEURAL EFFUSION

This is a report about the measurement of lysozyme activity of pleural fluid and serum in 103 cases. The results obtained reveal that the lysozyme content is more than 28.1μg/ml in 94％of the cases with tuberculous pleural effusion,and the ratio of lysozyme in pleural fluid to that in serum is greater than 1.0 in 90％ of them. Therefore, measurement of lysozyme activity may be considered as an immunogical index for differential diagnosis and therapeutic effect in pleural effusion.In addition,these results showed that there is a parallel relationship between lysozyme and LDH content in the diagnosis of pleural effusion.
