ADSORPTION OF LEAD FROM WASTE WATER BY Str. rimosus

This paper reported the adsorption of Pb 2+ from solution by using pharmaceutical fermetnation waste Str.rimosus when pH of solution decreased from 4 to 2, the Pb 2+ uptake increased from 115mg/g to 150mg/g. The Pb 2+ uptake by Str.rimosus was an endothermic process. The Pb 2+ uptake increased when the particle size of the biomass decreased. Pretreatment with HNO 3 and NaOH caused the Pb 2+ uptake by Str.rimosus decrease and increase respectively. Co ion (Cu 2+ ) in the solution competed for the adsorption sites of the biomass and restrained the adsorption of Pb 2+ .
