To investigate antitumor activity and mechanism of conjugate of phospholipid with tegafur (CPLT 2), the cells of several tumor cell lines and normal human embreal lung of fibroblast cell line were treated with CPLT 2. Proliferation of cells were investigated by cell titer 96 aqueous non radioactive cell proliferation assay system. Apoptotic PG cells were evaluated by TUNEL and flow cytometry. The results showed that proliferation of tumor cells were inhibited by CPLT 2 and the effect was dose dependent and time dependent. In addition, the PG cells treated with CPLT 2 showed apoptotic characteristics. This study indicates that CPLT 2 can inhibite the proliferation of tumor cells and induce cell apoptosis.
