STUDY ON VISCOSITY STABILIZER FOR XANTHAN GUM SOLUTION AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE

The results of reseach on alkali metal sodium borohydride as viscosity stabilizer of Xanthan gum solution at elevated temperature are reported. The experiment showed that property of Xanthan gum solution maintained stable on the whole and viscosity of the solution only lost 2%~6% when storing at 85℃ for 60 days after removing oxygen and adding 80~320mg/L sodium borohydride, 40g/L of synthetic sea water and 4g/L of commercial formaldehyde to the solution. The results proposed a new way for Xanthan gum application in the tertiary oil recovery at elevated temperature reservoirs.
