This paper emphasizes on the ultrastructure of mandibular organ (MO) in Erocheir sinensis and OM's changes after eyestalk ablation. The channels of hemolymph subdivide the MO into cords. Each cord is composed of many approximate rectangle cells. The karyoplasm contains patch of condensed chromatin closely associating with the nuclear envelope. The plasma membrane bordering the basal lamina consists of invaginations in varying degree which may serve to increase the surface area for metabolic exchange. A promient feature of MO cell is two distinct types of agranular endoplasmic reticlum. Furthermore, numerous mitochondria、 vesicles、 microbodies and lipidlike inclusions scatter throuhout the cytoplasm. The MO cell have several changes occur in the ultrastructure following eyestalk ablation. These include loss of some TER and inflate of mitochondrial structure. The amount of visicles increases and fill the entire cells. The ultrastructure features reveal MO cells may be steroid secreting cells.
