An Empirical Study on Education Investment and Economic Growth based on Panel Quantile Regression

Use is made of Chinese inter-provincial panel data from 1997 to 2011 to reseach into the broad sense education investment and narrow sense education investment by using panel quantile regression as a primary tool. The result suggests two-way causality between education investment and economic growth, and one-way causality between financial education investment and economic growth. With the increase of GDP, the return rate of the education on economic growth is decreasing step by step, which reflects the contradiction between actual demand of education and inadequate education investment in various regions of China.
