On the Determination of the Total-Load Rate from Point-Integrating Suspended-Sediment Sampling

Based on the Einstein bed-load function and the logarithmic velocity distribution, formulas are derived which can be used to determine the rate of total-load transport and the average suspended sediment concentration of the sampled vertical from the results of point-integrating technique, The present sediment-sampling program employed in the Yellow River is examined under the same light, and its applicability and limitations are pointed out.
