Discourse Ability and Efficient English Reading

Discourse ability refers to intellectual ability of analyzing, summarizing, and inferring. It also includes the abilities of identifying the cohesions in discourse, decoding the mark of discourse, defining the structures of text, etc. Possession of discourse ability indicates that a reader is able to read a text as a whole, to get writer's message, and to draw important and meaningful information on the base of understanding the language form. The application of discourse ability in English reading is of great help to read comprehensibly, quickly and efficiently.
