On Associations between Abnormal ECG and Pathological site(s) in Brain of A Stroke Devoid of History of Cardiovascular Diseases

(Lanzhou General Hospital, Lanzhou Comanding Center,PLA)Liu Jilin, Luan Dexin,Wu Zhi ying.
CT Scan and ECG changes in 93 cases of stroke without cardiovascular disease history were studied Following stroke, 70 cases(75.3%) had abnormal ECG, 23 cases (24.7%) ECG were normal; 6 cases (8.6%) with abnormal ECG changes recovered when reexarnined 4 wks later. It is suggested that abnormal ECG changes after stroke have: (1) Associations with the site of cerebral lesions, basal ganglia stroke having a higher rate of abnormal ECG changes in than others (2) no assosiation with the character of cerebral esions, (3) no assosiation with the dominant hemisphere, (4) some abnormal ECG changes which could return to normal after a not too long period.
