Quantitative Analysis of Male Gallstone Patients' Sex Hormones & Prostaglandins:A Case-control Study

The concentrations of sero estradiol (E_2), progesterone, testosterone and prostaglandins (PGs), were assayed by radioimmunoassay in 28 male gallstone patients and 26 healthy middle-aged aged men, indicating that E2 as well as progesterone mean levels were elevated in gallstone males,while their mean testosterone level was low, differences between the above levels those corresponding ones in healthy controls being statistically significant(P0.05 or even0.001). As to the mean PGs level in gallstone males, it was higher than that of healthy controls, yet, the difference (?) these two being statistically insignificant.
