Monitoring of Pesticide Resistance of Cotton Bollworm and its Chemical Control

Zhu Jiusheng Qiao Xiongwu Qin shu et.al(Institute of Plant Protection,Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences,Taiyuan 030031)  
the pesticide resistance of cotton bo11warm(Heliothis armigera Hubner)to five insecticides commonly used in Yongji County,one of cotton cultural areas of sorth Shanxi,was investigated using a leaf-dip technique,and field trials were also conducted to screen effective insecticides against this pest.The monitoring results showed that cotton bollworm in Yongji County has developed high level resistance to cypermethrin and middle level resistance to monocrotophos,however to methomyl the strain was still susceptible.The results of field trials indicated that isocarbophos,parathion-methyl,cyhalothrin,cypermethrin,mixture of profenofos and phoxim,mixture of parathion-methyl and cypermethrin would be recommended for effectively controlling 2nd generation of H.armigera in Yongji County.
