With the rapid development of production and improvement of living conditions, emissions of atmospheric pollutant in cities are becoming an increasingly serious problem. Emission regulations for exhaust pollutants from automobiles are becoming increasingly stringent, so that the engines firing conventional liquid fuels are no longer able to meet the demands of the emission regulations in force. It is therefore of far reaching importance to develop alternative fuels and related engine technologies. In this paper, features of liquefied petroleum gas(LPG)used as engine fuel were analyzed. The performance, features and techniques of LPG-petroleum dual fuel engines were discussed. The status quo and prospects of the development of LPG-engines were depicted. Malfunction features of LPG- petroleum dual fuel engines were discussed and suggestions for improvement were made.
