State-of-the-arts and development of SO_X emission control technologies

In this paper, SOx formation in combustion processes is briefly discussed. SOx emission control technologies are classified, and the state-of-the-arts of these technologies are presented. Especially illustrated in this paper are advances in some typical new SOx emission control technologies, such as limestone wet FGD, semi-dry FGD, bio-coal briquettes, activated-carbon SOx/NOx removal process, and high-voltage pulsed corona-discharge FGD. In addition, suggestions for the development and application of these FGD technologies are made.
