Automobiles, especially cars, will prevail rapidly in richer families after China becomes one of WTO members. The status quo of the auto industry and recycling of old automobiles was reviewed and analyzed in this paper. On the basis of this, problems of the disorderly market for automobile recycling, unreasonable utilization of resources, environmental pollution, and out-of-date technologies and facilities for recycling were discussed. It was suggested that acts and regulations for recycling should be improved and disassembly centers of discarded automobiles should be erected in order to utilize the resources more reasonably. At the same time, we must adhere to the strategies of green product in designing automobiles.
