Investigations on heat transfer and fluid flow over banks of staggered tubes using the finite element method

Numerical investigations on heat transfer and fluid flow over different banks of staggered smooth tubes were carried out in this work using the finite element method. Pictures of chromatism gradient of the velocity and temperature fields for different tube banks were made, and their heat transfer and flow characteristics were compared and analyzed. The finite element method is thus an effective technique for investigating heat transfer and flow characteristics of tube banks in combination with experiments. This work is instructive to the optimization design of smooth tube banks.
