Real-time measurements and analyses of indoor and outdoor PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) in a common office in Taiyuan

The indoor and outdoor inhalable particulates concentrations were measured in the air of a common office in Taiyuan.It was found that both indoor and outdoor particulates concentrations(PM10 and PM2.5) exceeded the concentration limits given by the national secondary standard and the American secondary standard,respectively.In smoking rooms particulate concentrations are higher than those in nonsmoking room,and smoking has a great contribution to the increase of the concentration of PM2.5.Indoor particulates pollution is more serious than outdoor,and both the I/O(indoor/outdoor) ratio of particulate concentrations for smoking and nonsmoking rooms are higher than 1.0.Indoor pollution sources are major factors for resulting in high concentration of indoor particulates.Both indoor and outdoor PM2.5 account for a quite significant proportion of PM10.Moreover,the proportion of PM2.5 is much higher in the smoking room.
