The objective of this research was to isolate a nicosulfuron degrading strain of N80(Serratia marcecens), and determine its degradation characteristic in remediation of a nicosulfuron-contaminate soil. The experiment condition of best growth of N80 was pH value 7.0, glucose 1 g/L, yeast 1 g/L, sodium chloride 10 g/L. The strain was incubated in shaker at 30 °C, 160 r/min speed. The soil degradation test indicated that nicosulfuron and its degrading bacterium could move in 0-15 cm soil column. Strain N80 distribution was 0-15 cm soil. The degradation rate of nicosulfuron was 85.5% in 0-5 cm soil .
