Quick Screening of Solvents for Agrochemical Formulations by Simulation Methodology

[Aims] The aims were to develop a method for screening of solvents for agrochemical formulations by simulation methodology, which can replace traditional solvents. [Methods] The concept of Hansen solubility parameter was introduced in the simulation method. The candidated solvents were screened out by the combination of theoretical and semi-empirical methods. Manual experiments were used to determine the suitable solvents for agrochemical formulations from the candidated solvents. [Results] The formulation of imidacloprid 9% EC developed by the method can be diluted with hard water by 20 times, and the stability was qualified. [Conclusions] The experimental results highly matched simulation results. The develop-efficiency of formulations can be improved by combining simulation and manual methods.
