A Study on the Regulation of Mepiquat Chloride in the Growth and Physiology of Corn Plants

Yand Zhimin et al.(Department of Applied meteerology,Nanjing Institute of Meteorology,Nanjing210044)
Effect of different concentrations of mepiquat chlo-ride on the growth and physiology of corn seedlings was stud-ied.Results showed that the enhancement of the growth ofcorn seedlings was characterised by the increase in height, leaf area, and biomass accumulation following the treatment ofseeds soaked in 0.5 and 2.0 ppm mepiquat chloride solution.Mepiquat chloride significantly caused the increase in net pho-tosynthesis,the content of chlorophyll a and b in leaves, andwas also effective in the regulation of root activity.
