Objective To observe the effectiveness of integrated the traditional Chinese and western medicine in treating postmenopausal osteoporotic fracture.Methods126 post-menopausal female were diagnosis osteoporosis by DEXA,and at least one pathological fracture confirmed with X-ray.All cases underwent surgery, cervus and cucumis polypeptide for injection(16mg/d,15d),oral alendronate 10mg/d,4 weeks later changed to 70mg/w,20 weeks;surgery only in control group without medicine therapy. The bone mineral density, fracture healing, pain index were evaluated after 24w treatment.ResultsIn treatment group, bone mineral density [(0.72±0.09)g/cm2 vs(0.62±0.07)g/cm2,P0.01]were significantly increased;limbs shaft fractures in the treatment group the average healing time was(12.4±2.9) weeks;for the control group,(16.4±3.3)weeks.There was significant difference between two groups(P0.01).The pain index was lower in treatment group than control group(P0.01) within 1 week, but there was no significant difference after 1w(P0.05).ConclusionThe integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicines could improve the clinical symptoms of osteoporotic fracture, and increase bone density, promoting healing.
