Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Internal Flow on Top Tension of the Riser

The effect of internal flow on top tension of the riser with large slenderness ratio is researched by physical model test.The internal flow velocity is readout by the electronic flowmeter and top tension is tested by the dynamic resistance strain gauge in different outflow rate.Then the effect regularity of internal flow on top tension of the riser is analyzed directly.The experimental study shows that the top tension declines with the increase of internal flow and the effect of internal flow is relatively small when the applied top tension is large.When the applied external flow velocity is low,the effect of internal flow on top tension of the riser is more obviously.
